Herbal brew

It wasn't until I was in my 30s that I realised coffee made me nuts. It gets me all hyped up and bouncing off the walls - not a pretty sight. So while I love the stuff, I drink it very, very occasionally.

Tea is my hot beverage of choice now, and this selection of Australian herbal teas really hits the spot. I like a cup of Koala Tea Company's No Worries Tea ($5 for a box of 20 teabags) just before bedtime. The combination of lemongrass, lemon balm, roasted chicory root and mint is particularly soothing.

The Organic Camomile ($5 for a box of 20 teabags) from the same company is fantastic with some honey, and I drank pots of it when I was getting over the flu recently.

To pep up your work day, nothing beats a cup of peppermint tea. Try Australis Organic's version, made with round-leaf and river mint ($6.20 for 25 teabags).

Herbal teas from FairPrice Xtra, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, B2-26 Ang Mo Kio Hub, tel: 6453-2521/1976. Opening hours: 8am to 10pm daily.
