With so many varieties of bottled water out there, it can be difficult for a new player to make a big splash. After all, how many types of mineral, distilled or filtered water can you have? And water is just water, right?

Not quite, says Purence Dew Drinking Water.

Dew, of course, is the result of condensation of water vapour in the air. The technology used to produce Purence captures atmospheric moisture from filtered air, separates it from impurities before turning it into droplets of pure drinking water. Purence claims to contain virtually no inorganic minerals and impurities thanks to this process.

Even if you cannot care less about how your drinking water is obtained, Purence certainly tastes different from several of the other bottled waters on the market. In an informal taste test at home, my family and I sampled cups of Purence, bottled distilled water, tap water and filtered water. Distilled water is usually my beverage of choice, and I was surprised to find that Purence compared favourably to it.

As some discerning drinkers may attest, distilled water is marked by the sheer absence of taste, and this in turn tastes odd and strangely 'chemical' to those who are used to drinking tap or mineral water. Purence struck a good balance - there was a clarity to it that reminded me of distilled water, yet it lacked the pseudo-chemical taste and smell that is present in so many brands of bottled distilled water in the market.

The biggest draw of Purence for most people, however, would be its lovely, jewel-like bottles. One colleague has declared that she will lay her hands on the purple bottle, while my mother has happily snagged my blue one. Available in a total of six colours, they certainly look chic enough to bring about town, and the generous 389ml capacity ensures that it will be able to last you for half a day at least.
