I often wonder how the snack engineers who work for big Japanese food manufacturers do it.
How, I wonder, do they replicate the flavour of gyoza dipped in vinegar on a chip? How do they simulate the taste of smoked salmon on a bagel with onion in a puffy ring-shaped snack?
This is very sophisticated engineering indeed.
And now they have come up with crackers shaped and flavoured like butter naans, complete with browned edges.
Simply and boringly called flour snacks, they are nonetheless really fun to eat and do taste like buttery naans. They are plain enough to use as a dip for spicy mango chutney or maybe a raita.
If you can find the curry version, get them. These taste exactly like naans dipped in butter chicken. Amazing.
