Truffle treat

Truffle oil has been getting such a bad rep lately.

Because it is so ubiquitous, it's been labelled the "ketchup of the bourgeoisie" and then The New York Times reported in May that most commercial truffle oils are chemically enhanced.

But I could not resist getting this small pot of truffle honey. Just so you know they're serious, there are two little bits of freeze-dried white truffle in the pot, plus "flavourings".

Forget the science and the exposes and just drizzle some on top of blue cheese and crackers. Or on toast. Or on some good vanilla ice cream.

The sweet acacia honey hits the palate first, then nano seconds later, you get that strong, earthy and unmistakeable smell of truffles. Breathe deep.
