I never tire of shopping at Daiso, the chain of Japanese shops where everything costs just $2.
Recently, I found something I never thought anyone would think to make - special tea bags just for tall bottles.
Pop one of these long tea bags into a bottle of water or into your water jug, make sure the extra long tab sticks out of the bottle, screw on the cap and leave it in the fridge.
In half an hour or so, you've got a bottle of tea without having to boil any water.
The red tea is much like English Breakfast, so you can make an iced tea with it. The Houjicha or roasted green tea has a mild flavour and very little caffeine in it, and is delicious chilled.
But the most interesting of the three is the black soybean barley tea, made with barley, black soybeans, a kind of grain called Job's Tears and unpolished rice.
Smoky, fragrant, yet mild on the tongue, it makes an unusual thirst quencher and tastes really good cold too.
Pet bottle tea bags, $2 each, from Daiso, 04-01 Plaza Singapura. Opening hours: 10.30am to 9.30pm daily.
