Vinegar in vogue

Remember raspberry vinegar in the 1980s? Yep, it's been that long since fruit vinegars were in vogue. But some things don't have to be fashionable, they just have to be delicious.

Just like Hediard's mango vinegar.

It's the colour of mango puree and smells enticingly of ripe mango, but retains its vinegary edge.

Add a glug or two to a basic vinaigrette dressing, then drizzle over a prawn and avocado salad.

You can also add it to a marinade for barbecued meat, or to any dish that needs a fruity, zesty lift.

Hediard Vinegar With Mango Pulp, $21.30 for a 200ml bottle, from Hediard Cafe-Boutique, 123-125 Tanglin Road, Tudor Court, tel: 6333-6683. Opening hours: 9am to 8pm.
