I say tomato

I've been popping these mini plum tomatoes like grapes and I just can't get enough of them.

It is rare to find good tomatoes here. The larger ones often taste cottony and bland, and my favourites, Momotaros and Kumatoes, are not always available.

Mini tomatoes often are though, and they're usually more flavourful than their larger cousins.

This is certainly true of these mini plum tomatoes grown in Malaysia's Genting Highlands.

They come in red, a deep dusky pink and bright yellow, and instantly perk up any dish.

Besides just popping them in your mouth, you can also roast them in a slow oven with olive oil and salt and add to cooked pasta, or slice them in half and toss with chunks of mozzarella cheese and torn basil leaves for a quick and easy salad.

Genting Garden Assorted Mini Plum tomatoes, $4.10 for a 300g punnet, from Cold Storage, B1-18 Great World City. Opening hours: 9am to 10pm daily.
