Have a special break

Connoisseurs of exotic KitKat flavours take note. There are now two new ones on the market: A tea-flavoured version and one called Basil Nut Choco.

It took me a minute to realise that they probably mean Brazil nut, although the photograph shows a hazelnut or maybe a macadamia nut. Name confusion aside, this is the better one as it has a rich, nutty and buttery flavour.

The tea-flavoured one tastes pretty much like regular KitKat, but like all the other Japanese versions of this popular chocolate wafer I've tasted, the chocolate is smooth and rich.

Definitely a cut above the garden-variety sold in shops everywhere.

Exotic KitKat, $3.85 a pack, from Isetan supermaket, Shaw House, tel: 6733-1111. Opening hours: 10am to 9.30pm daily.
