A better butter from Hokkaido

After a colleague told me about this fantastic Hokkaido butter, I went straight to Isetan to get some.

Right after I got home, I made some toast and slathered the butter all over the bread.

Oooh, creamy, sweet and so delightful.

That evening, I sauteed some king oyster, shiitake and portobello mushrooms in the butter, together with some chopped garlic.

I tossed the lot in some fresh tagliatelle and sprinkled lots of chopped parsley on it for a simple and very satisfying dinner.

The next morning, I made scrambled eggs with the butter and a tiny dollop of creme fraiche.

I've got half a block of butter left, and have a lot of other ideas for using it up.

Why, oh why, didn't I buy more?

Rihga Royal Hotel butter, $10.90 for a 200g block, from Isetan supermaket, Shaw House, tel: 6733-1111. Opening hours: 10am to 9.30pm daily.
