AMERICAN singer Gwen Stefani is set to give her Singaporean fans a taste of her spectacular live shows soon.

The pop icon, who has gained a huge group of female copycat fans dubbed the "Gwennabes", will be performing here on Aug 14.

Her concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium is part of her Sweet Escape Tour.

It is being organised by American concert promoter Live Nation???s Hong Kong office. Live Nation is the world???s leading live music company with its headquarters in Los Angeles, California. It has produced tours for superstars like The Rolling Stones and Madonna.

Ms Colleen Ironside, Live Nation Asia's senior vice-president, said in an e-mail on Thursday: "We are just finalising the details and full details will be announced shortly."

Stefani, 37, was last here in August 2002 to perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with her band No Doubt in a double bill with Irish rock band The Cranberries.

She will most likely be coming this time with her grunge-rocker husband Gavin Rossdale and son Kingston James.

She got her start in showbiz when she was asked by her brother Eric to sing for his band No Doubt. Their ska-pop sound was initially unpopular as grunge was the in thing then. But the release of their third album Tragic Kingdom (1995) shot them to fame with the hit single Don't Speak.

In November 2004, she released her solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby followed by The Sweet Escape in December 2006 which spawned hits like Wind It Up and The Sweet Escape.

Meanwhile, ticket sales for the upcoming concerts by American singer Christina Aguilera and English band The Cure are good.

Aguilera, 26, will be performing next Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium as part of her Back To Basics tour. The Cure will be performing at the same venue on Aug 1. Both concerts are also organised by Live Nation Asia.

Ms Ironside said tickets for both gigs have been selling very fast in all price categories.

She added that the stage for Aguilera's gig will be much bigger than for other concerts. It will protrude 6.7m further into the audience so those at the back of the auditorium will also have a good view.

Aguilera, who shot to fame in 1999 with her hit single Genie In A Bottle, is well-known for the chameleon-like changes in her appearance.

As for The Cure, the legendary Robert Smith-fronted English alternative rock band formed in 1976, Ms Ironside said the four members are "very excited about doing a show somewhere they have never been".

She added: "They keep asking us what the very best things to do in Singapore are, so maybe The Straits Times readers can send in some suggestions we can pass on to the band."

Tickets for the Christina Aguilera Singapore concert next Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium at $98, $148, $188, $228 and $348 are available from Sistic.
Tickets for The Cure concert on Aug 1 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium are available from Sistic at $78, $118, $148 and $178. Go to www.sistic.com or tel: 6348-5555.For more details, log on to www.livenationasia.com
