KUALA LUMPUR: Historic Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad, where along it towers the Sultan Abdul Samad building with its Moorish architecture, will soon be transformed into a traditional food and cultural haven.

Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said tourists and locals who visit the area would not only be treated to a gourmet experience, but would also witness the diverse Malaysian culture.

"There will be all kinds of traditional Malaysian food such as nasi lemak, roti canai and teh tarik on sale to promote our local delicacies to the tourists.

"On weekends, there will be traditional dance and cultural performances," he told the New Straits Times yesterday.

Rais added that the ministry would set up a traditional food restaurant which would serve a variety of Malaysian food under one roof.
