TOKUSHIMA, JAPAN --A pest control agent containing dichlorvos was used in the Co-op Ishii Store in Ishiicho, Tokushima Prefecture, which sold gyoza products found to have had a small amount of the pesticide on the surface of their packaging, according to the prefectural government.
The prefectural government suspects the organic phosphorus pesticide used in the store had circulated in the air and adhered to packages of "Co-op Tezukuri Gyoza," which were recalled by the Tokushima Seikyo co-operative union in Kitajimacho in the prefecture.
Among the products collected from the store as of Tuesday, a small amount of dichlorvos was detected on 19 packages, including 3 packages produced in Japan.
The pesticide was not found on 26 packages of the product collected from the Co-op Sumiyoshi store in Tokushima.
