Entire lamb roasted and delivered to your doorstep
THE next time you're craving for a roast, head to the Market Place at Paragon.
As part of the supermarket's newly-completed revamp, it has introduced a new lamb spit service, launched on Feb 22.
Available at $399 for a standard package, the service allows customers to have a whole lamb roasted and served fresh at their parties and events.
Cutlery and plates can be provided at an extra charge, while a chef will be on hand to serve the guests and ensure the meat is warm throughout the whole event, Cold Storage meat category manager Jason Chong told reporters yesterday.
The lamb spit feature is the supermarket's first partnership with Les Amis Catering. The collaboration came about when Mr Choo Peng Chee, the chief executive officer of Cold Storage, tried Les Amis' lamb spit at an event.
He was pleased with it and wanted to bring it to Market Place customers as well, Mr Chong told my paper.
Mr Phillipe Pau from Les Amis Catering said: "We're hoping those who try our food and service will move on to larger events."
And since the Market Place wants to cater to "sophisticated customers who relish grocery shopping as a fashionable and chic experience", it also pumped in $3 million into a new look, Mr Chong said.
The old "dull-looking" tiled flooring has been replaced with attractive ones, and ambient lighting added to give a classier feel.
About 500 exclusive products have been, like a range of Hediard jams from France. With only two lamb spit units in service currently, Mr Chong said the Market Place is in the midst of "purchasing two to three more units".
The supermarket is even developing a similar offering - pig on a spit.
