Adventurous way to discover the beauty of forests

Have you ever wanted to experience the freedom of soaring through the treetops like Tarzan?

Singapore's first treetop adventure course, Forest Adventure, gives Singaporeans a chance to escape from the concrete jungle. The facility in Bedok Reservoir Park was developed with the expertise of one of Europe's successful designers and builders of treetop courses.

It is made up of two courses: the Grand Course for adults and children with minimum height of 1.4m, and the Kids Course for children with minimum height of 1.1m. Since it opened last month, around 800 people have experienced the aerial courses.

Admittedly, one will not be able to swing from tree to tree using vines like Edgar Rice Burrough's fictional character. Instead, one navigates the aerial courses, situated four to five metres above the ground, using ladders, bridges, swings, nets, trapezes and slides.

NParks Director Mr Kong Yit San hopes that Forest Adventure will be a "fun and interesting way for people to get closer to nature.

"As participants navigate through the courses amongst the trees, we hope that they would be able to enjoy and appreciate our natural environment," he said.

Situated along the banks of the reservoir, the Grand Course has 32 different stages including an aptly named Tarzan swing and a 65m section comprising seven different bridges. Another highlight is the world's first zip lines (flying foxes) across the reservoir.

The Kid's Course is built around a central platform and is laid out in two loops of seven activities. Parents are welcome to join their children on course or walk along on the footpath below.

All participants are given a 20-minute safety briefing before the course, and are equipped with a helmet and safety harnesses which they attach to a safety line. They then move unaccompanied through the course, although there are instructors on the ground who will provide guidance and assistance, if necessary.

Forest Adventure is located at Bedok Reservoir Park. It is open from 10am to 6pm (Tue to Sun).
Entry prices are as follows: Grand Course - Adults: S$25; Below 16: S$20 / Kid's Course - S$18
