Lawry's The Prime Rib Singapore

AS SUZZANA, our waitress for the evening, gracefully spun the salad bowl on a bed of ice and glazed it with a special vintage dressing in a ballerina-like fashion, I instantly knew that at Lawry's, things were done differently.

And I loved every tacky moment of it. I was sold. After all, any good dining experience should be memorable in more ways than one.

It felt good to know that the salad tasted just as great as the three-minute toss & glaze show. The crunchy romaine and iceberg lettuce was dressed up simply - cherry wine, tomato paste & chopped eggs - and topped with freshly (plus point here) fried croutons.

For the main event, a skillet cart was pulled alongside our table. Conscious about my waistline, I decided to go easy and opted for the English Cut - three thin slices of beef ($68.80), while my fiance, Han, decided on the traditional (and more chunky) Lawry's Cut ($78.80).

"And would you like the fat to be trimmed for you?" Suzzana asked. She meant the beef, of course. Nice touch, I thought.

The slow roasted beef was juicy and tender and paired perfectly with the sides of toasty Yorkshire Pudding and mashed potatoes. The whipped cream horseradish also gave it all an extra kick.

Verdict: Lovely service and ambience! Juicy & top-quality beef. Great wines too.

20 per cent off total a la carte food bill. One complimentary main course with every four main courses ordered.
